E C2024-08-29Coming to 2 years and counting with Ivy at Meta. I am enjoying the PT sessions with Ivy in achieving the physical goals set. It helped that Ivy was encouraging and yet firm in helping me reach the goals. It is very important to train right with a professional like Ivy so I won’t learn the wrong techniques (that will be tough to undo later) or hurt myself. To add, the major pull is the exclusivity, clean, boutique like setup - not the typical cookie cutter, mass market kind of gym. Also they take pride in well maintaining their facilities and machines which is a plus. In addition to working out in a well-maintained gym (wide selection of machines, very clean gym and bathrooms), the trainers are excellent. He helped me develop a diet and routine that I can now practice even on my own. He has also taught me the correct form necessary to get the most out of my workouts. It was my first time ever in a gym and tbh gymtimidation is real. I was actually quite terrified on my first day! Fortunately Brendan was very patient and tailored the programming to my needs as a complete newbie. I felt scared of the weights but I also felt safe that I wouldn’t sustain injuries under his watchful eye. His programming ensured that I didn’t get bored with the same old exercises over and over again. I felt constantly challenged but not to a point where I was demotivated, and I began to look forward to every gym session. I also discovered everyone here is really friendly so I didn’t feel so scared or out of place anymore! (This one’s for you, Lily <3) I think good PT goes beyond personalised meal plans and learning how to do exercises with good form. Initially, I struggled a lot with having a healthy relationship with food. Brendan and Sebastian (and all the other trainers at META) emphasise the importance of sustainability - this isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon for one’s long term health. Once again, Brendan’s patience in monitoring my diet helped tremendously in keeping me on track; and I even did a photoshoot a couple of months ago (no filter!) I could never have imagined that I would look this way, and I’m really amazed that I’ve come so far under Brendan’s guidance. Very experienced trainer - lots of knowledge, great tips on form and of course pushes me hard! The gym itself is a really friendly environment and has great equipment. Very clean and convenient for me working in Raffles Place area.
